Little Girls, Little Girls was inspired and created for my first 2 grandchildren. Audrey and Marion. The song itself is a hope for their lives and even bigger a rally cry for all girls everywhere. At the time this simple song was conceived the world was in the midst of the “Me-Too” movement. Women everywhere were standing-up and claiming our unique voices and stories. We have a long way to go. We are swimming upstream in a mighty ocean of historical patriarchy. Every day is a battle of recognition and a scream for equality.
We have knit our Pussy Hats. We have marched with dignity and non-violence. We are cracking glass ceilings. We are trying to break a cycle of male dominance.
All girls, at all ages, everywhere need to believe that their voices are important and should be heard.
